Even if I need to be on my way around 8, as always, I choose to sleep the more I can, so I wake up around 7:40. I’ve already prepared all my shit, work clothes, lunch, breakfast, and with.. automatic moves, I’m in the bus around 08:05.
The highway of Aix-Marseille is jammed so we spend like 45 minutes for a distance normally being around 25 minutes. Arrival at Marseille around 08:50, then straight to the Metro station. Three stops after that I’m there. Then a bus for a short distance of like 5 minutes. I’m at work around 09:05-09:10. Being the only employee living in Aix that’s a pretty good time. And in any case, I’m a badly paid intern for Christ’s sake.
I always find myself doing distances. That sucks.
I went high school 1 hour away from my home. Then I spent one semester in a university again far from home, doing the back and forth using the Greek public transport. (quite an experience) Thankfully my next university in Athens was like 15′-20′ from home, and I got a car.
And then I come here, and I discover my university is one of the few which is not in the center of the town, and I have to take a stupid bus to go there. Which by the way, during the 2nd semester of the masters, left us like 1km away from the uni, cause there were some work going on.
And now, since I finally stayed here and found the job in Marseille, I’m doing an 1h distance, twice a day. DISTANCES SUCK. Anyway it’s for three months, then we’ll see what happens.
After work I get home at around 19:00. More or less. I’m pretty tired I must admit. I mean sometimes I’m more tired than tired, this meaning I can’t move my ass. But, you get used to it. And the French transport are of course perfect compared to the greek ones. The buses and train scome right on time. And, the advantage is that by the time you get to Aix, everyone and everything is next to me. Going out doesn’t seem like a nightmare. (like Athens! bbbrrr:S ). No driving, no parking, no nothing. Just a few minutes walk, and you are everywhere!
