babai summer, hello winter

pattern

Kalimera, goodmorning, bonjour, buenos Dias!

Chilly days lately in Athens. This year we were lucky enough for not having a single heatwave. Just some hotter days on late June/early July, some others at late August and that was all about it. And it’s getting really cooler. The rainfall the other day and the storm were pretty relieving. Everyone enjoyed those. But unfortunately, some went a bit over the top, didn’t pay so much attention to the nighttime chilly breeze, and now 5 out 10 people are sick. With everything from fever to sneazing puffy noses and all. Get well soon. Oh, and needless to mention that after some hours of a moody day, all my friends started 1) to be melancholic, and 2) to complain about their “love&affection” needs.

Actually, i think i might have SAD for the summertime. It sounds crazy, but i’ve read it’s really common. Every year when September kicks in my mood is really getting a boost. Although for most of the people it’s the beginning of the obligations again, i find that month rather interesting, motivating and maybe the best month climate-wise in Athens. Well, there’s also the fact that for the last couple/triple of years my summers begin with rather unpleasant events. Maybe bad luck then.

Everyone is supposed to be back to work and other obligations after the end of August. As they did. My msn list is full of people with statuses like “i hate work!!” , “i wanna go back to the islands:(” , “how many days left until christmas?” and so on. And most of the guys work like 10% of their shift while spending the rest of the time hanging around the various Social Networking websites, instant messengers etc. heh. My empathy.

Oh, just got my IELTS scores. I scored 8 out of 9. Lets just have a moment of silence for this event. Nahh, i don’t want to brag, but definately, the score is darn g00d, and it’s equal to C2, the highest level of the Common European Framework. Hm, I actually suspect i might have a thing with languages. I really find most of them interesting and easy to learn, and if i get some spare time this year, i’d like to expand my horizons a little bit on this sector.

Vacations ended and the 8′o’clock news are back. With political debates and all that shit. THERE WE GO AGAIN. Yes, it’s true, i used to watch those, but right now i just CAN’T BOTHER. I think i’m becoming one of those people who just say “They are all the same, nothing will change”. Lately, after the government screwed up in some major voting procedure, some argue over the creation of a new political party or the support of the Green Ecologists party, which maybe is not such a bad idea. I begin to think that what happens in the political life is the mirror of our mentality and culture as people. Who we vote is who we are. I don’t expect major breakthroughs from politicians.

Best news I heard this week was the beginning of the construction of the METRO train in Thessaloniki. After that, the second largest city of Greece will seem like a really interesting solution for all those who are getting sick and tired of Athens. (let’s just hope we don’t make Thessaloniki like Athens)

I’ll leave you with one oldschool classic anthem which i’ve been playing back and forth lately. For those who were there! That one deserves full volume of your stereo let me tell you.
